How Our Sprinkler Winterization Works

  1. Shut Off & Isolate. We turn off your irrigation water and isolate the backflow/preventer.
  2. Connect Air. We attach a compressor and regulate pressure appropriate for sprinkler components.
  3. Blow Out Zones. We cycle each zone until mist clears and heads run dry, including drip lines.
  4. Drain & Set Controller. We drain the backflow, leave valves partially open, and set your controller for winter with notes.

Note: Winterization removes water ahead of freezing weather. It’s not a full spring tune-up; minor issues can still surface at startup. We’re happy to address those during spring start-up service.

Winterization FAQs

When should I schedule my sprinkler blowout in the Pointes?
Most homeowners book between late September and early November. Lake-adjacent properties can see colder overnight temperatures sooner, so early October or earlier is safest for waterfront streets.
How long does a visit take?

Do I need to be home?
Not required if we have access to the controller and connection point/backflow. Please unlock gates, provide any gate codes, and make sure access points are clear.

Yes. Pump systems are common in the Pointes. Pump-system winterization is $125 for systems up to 10 zones and includes draining the pump, protecting prime, and blowing out irrigation lines where accessible.
Is compressed air safe for my irrigation system?
Yes. We use regulated compressed air appropriate for residential irrigation components and cycle each zone until remaining water is cleared.
Do you include drip zones and the backflow?
Yes. Drip and micro zones are included, and the backflow assembly is drained and isolated for winter.
What if a zone won’t come on?
We’ll perform a quick check for common issues such as a stuck valve, wiring problem, or closed isolation valve. If additional repair time is needed, we can recommend service during spring startup.
Does winterization guarantee no spring leaks?
Winterization removes water to reduce freeze-damage risk, but it is not a complete irrigation inspection. Hidden issues may still appear during spring startup.

Make sure we can access the controller, irrigation connection or backflow, gates, valve areas, and pump equipment if applicable.
